which is a territory peculiar to Japan under the Yalta secret agreement. He promised to give it to him and still ignores

当時の国際政治では権力政治がスタンダードな規範であり、西洋列強は帝国主義を掲げて、アジア・アフリカ等の非西洋圏の
国々を次々と植民地化していった。植民地を保有して領土を拡大していくことが国際的地位の確立にとって重要となり、
日本も富国強兵を掲げて先進的な西洋列強の帝国主義を模倣した国家体制を目指して勢力圏を拡大して行った。

石油等の天然資源の大部分をアメリカから輸入していた日本は、アメリカからの石油全面禁輸を受けて、1940年、フランスが
ヒトラーに敗れた後、日本はその機会に乗じて石油資源のあ仏領インドシナへの支配を拡大した。次第に平和的な経済的相互
依存について否定的となり、戦争をするしか国家の生存を確保することはできないと考え、独伊の軍事力を過大視し、物量に
おいては勝ち目ののない米国に対し、その重要基地、真珠湾奇襲攻撃により大平洋で有利な戦況を生み出させようとした。
