Yasukuni Shrine (Tokyo)
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe appears to have badly misjudged Washington's reaction to his Dec. 26-visit to
Yasukuni Shrine. The U.S. government expressed disappointment at Abe's first visit as prime minister to
the Tokyo shrine that memorializes Japanese war dead along with 14-Class-A war-criminals. This appears
the same as if that Prime Minister Angela Merkel worshiped Adolf Hitler's Cemetery. Unless we separate$B!!(B

visit to Yasukuni.

The Yasukuni Shrine enshrines war criminals and war victims together. We should stop to enshrine both war-criminals
and war-victims in Yasukuni as soon as possible. The war criminals who destroyed and defeated Japan in 1945, by
World War $B-6(B, have not yet enshrined until 1978, when Yasukuni's shinto-priest, Matsunaga Eiyoshi, who had great
authority, enshrined war criminals.
This action was done secretly; however, it was exposed to the scoop article of the mass media in the following year,
making the fact in light among society. The reason why the chief priest, Matsunaga enshrining A-class-war criminal at
Yosukuni Shrine in Kudan, Tokyo,is his belief to oppose to the 'Tokyo Trial'. In the court, it was said that 'Japan was bad'.
According to his own ideas, there is no mental reconstruction of Japan unless denying the historical view of the Tokyo Trial'.
As a result, it led many Asia's people's discomfort, and the visits of Yasukuni by Japanese government officials are caught
by a strange eye. Emperor Showa strongly criticized shinto-priest Matsudaira, who enshrined the 14 A-class-war criminals
to the Yasukuni Shrine. Since the Emperor Sowa has no political power after 1945, as his action, he refused to visit
Yasukuni afterwards. Now, present Emperor and Empress and their family have never visited the Yasukuni Shrine.
