One of Tokyo Sky Tree's main purposes is as a television and radio broadcasting
tower. Tokyo's current
broadcasting tower, TokyoTower, is at 333 m, and is no longer tall enough
to give complete digital
terrestrial television broadcasting coverage because it is surrounded by
many high-rise buildings.
The Tokyo Sky Tree is currently the tallest TV tower in the world, 634
m in height ( The higher second
observatory 450 m ), and the second highest structure in the world, after
the Buri Khalifa Dubai.
There are four high-speed elevators, which runs 600 meters per minute,
carrying 40 passengers to
the level of 350-meter high of the lower first observatory deck within
50 seconds.

Sensoji is an ancient Buddhist temple located in Asakusa, Tokyo. It is
Tokyo's oldest temple, and one of
its most significant.
Dominating the entrance to the temple is the Kaminarimon or Thunder Gate;
This imposing Buddhist
structure features a massive paper lantern dramatically painted in vivid
red-and-black tones to suggest
thunder clouds and lightning. Beyond the Kaminarimon is Nakamise-Dori with
its shops.
Within the precincts stand a stately five-story pagoda and the main hall,
devoted to Kannon Bosatsu.
Many tourists, both Japanese and from abroad, visit Sensoji every year.
Catering to the visiting crowds,
the surrounding area has many traditional shops and eating places that
feature Japanese dishes,
e.g. hand-made noodles, sushi, tempura. Nakamise-Dori, the street leading
from the Thunder Gate to
the temple itself, is lined with small shops selling souvenirs ranging
from fans, woodblock prints, kimono
and other robes, Buddhist scrolls, old-times sweets, T-shirts, and cell-phone
straps.
