Sunny Isles Beach



Sunny Isles Beach is a city located on a barrier island, Florida. The City is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean
on the east and the Intracoastal Waterway on the west. The population was about 15,000.

When we drive on the Collins Avenue, along Route A1A, the road enters to Ocean Drive. It runs on
the narrow belt-shaped zone, which is sandwiched between the Atlantic Ocean and large cove. The area
brings all year round warm climate, and aged people who accumulated funds defined as the land of life
in old age. That is the place is Isles Beach. In fact, we amazed to see a high-rise condominium building
under construction after visiting this place, and realized a growing energy, even during the slowing-down
U.S. economy, we got recognition this district is the place special.

マイアミビーチの Collins Avenue (ルートＡ１Ａ)に沿って北上するとOcean Driveに移行する。この細長いベルト
状地帯は、右に大西洋、左に大きな入江の水面に挟まれ、一年中、極めて温暖な気候をもたらしている。寒さから
逃避したい高齢者たち、老後資金を蓄えたシニア層の人々がここに残りの人生をかけて過ごす。そこが
Sunny Isles Beach である。

実際、この地を訪れて、そのエネルギーの高まりには驚嘆した。多くの高層建造物は今なお建設中であり、アメリカ
経済の減速がささやかれる中、こういう地区もあるのだとの認識を得た。

ショッピングセンターにはタバコ屋の喫茶店があったが、大量の葉巻を売っていた。外のテラス席ではたくさんの
人がタバコを吸いながら飲食していたが、フロリダ州では出入口喫煙規制はないので合法だ。しかし、いかに
タバコ屋とはいえ、屋内施設では全面禁煙が守られていた。マイアミ市でもそうであったが、ここの街でもメキシコ
を始め、スペイン系の移民が非常に多く、聞こえてくる会話はほとんどスペイン語である。
