Since the Miami-Metro vertically passes through the center of city, it is very convenient to the people who are engaging in business
in Miami, even for residents who live nearby the station.

First time I made a trip to Miami was in 1962. At that years, it was common that many tourists visited Miami
from the whole country of United States, to avoid the cold of winter. This place is also ideal as a location for
films, and many well-known actors and actress engraved the name in the land. 'Miami Vice' is too famous,
and 'CSI Miami' in recent years.
However, the figure of tourists is very low, and we rather surprised to see a construction boom of a condominium
now. Particularly, around the Dadelandin South metro station, a new town was distinct. It appeared as if a movie
set from a distance, but was understood and confirmed those buildings are a robust building. There were no
active signs a construction worker going in and out. Again, we wonder if the aftermath of the sub-prime problem.
While the U.S. economy to slow down, the rate of decline of housing price in Miami is most among the United
States.
筆者が 最初にマイアミを訪れた1962年のころは、全米から数多くの観光客が冬の寒さを避けて常夏の地を訪れ滞在するのが
普通のことであった。当時は映画のロケ地としても有名で多くの映画俳優たちが、この地にその名を刻んだ。
「マイアミ・バイス」はあまりにも有名であり、最近では「CSI マイアミ」などがある。
しかし、今は観光客の姿は非常に少なく、コンドミニアムの建設ブームに沸いていた。Metro の南の終点、 特にDadeland
地区では新しい街が突然として出現したようだ。遠くから見ると映画のゼットのようにもみえたが、近づくにつれ高価な
建材を使用した堅牢な建物であることが分かる。しかし建設作業員でごったかえしている気配もなく、きわめて閑散として
いた。ここでもサブプライム問題の余波を受けているのだろうか。アメリカ経済が減速する中、全米の中でもマイアミ地域
での住宅価格の下落率が一番大きいのが気になる。
マイアミ市内の飲食店で禁煙標識を見かけることはほとんどない。閉鎖された食事空間ではタバコを吸ってはならないこと
が、すでに浸透しているのだろう。世界的に禁煙規制を展開し、ホテル内部での喫煙を禁止し、「喫煙者用の客室」を
全く設置しないなど、マリオットホテルは１００％健康志向の営業政策を実行している。
マイアミ Metro は市の中心部を縦断しているのでビジネス関係者には大変便利である。駅の近くに住む住人にとっても
なくてはならない生活路線ともなっている。
