State Hermitage Museum

The State Hermitage is a museum of art and culture in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It is one of the largest and
oldest museums in the world. It ranks among the four big museums of the world, such as the Louvre in Paris,
the National Gallery in London and the Metropolitan Museum in New York.

The collections here in the Museum are a little less than 3,000,000 items paintings, sculptures, object of
applied art, etc. It was founded in 1764 by Catherine the Great and has been open to the public since 1852.
The Hermitage is a federal-state property. Of six buildings of the main museum complex, five, named
the Winter Palace, a former residence of Russian emperors.

The entrance ticket for foreign tourists costs more than the fee paid by citizens of Russia and Belarus.
However, entrance is free daily for students and children.
