Christchurch International Airport is the main airport that serves Christchurch, New Zealand. It is
located 12 kilometers to the northwest of the city center.

成田からニュージランド南島最大の都市、クライストチャーチ国際空港に到着すると先ず目につくのが
大きな禁煙マークだ。空港内部は明るく、全面喫煙規制が旅行者に清潔感を印象づけているようだ。
規制は空港を管理する機構が自主的に決めているのではなく、2004年に成立した国の「禁煙法」の定めに
従っている。単なる努力義務を求め、実効性のない日本の「健康増進法」がいかに無意味なものか、
スモカーを保護しようとする日本と、喫煙の有害性から国民を守ろうとする先進国との違いが、
旅してみるとよく分かる。
