Lake Wakatipu, a long thin lake formed by glacial processes and has a spectacular view of nearby mountains.

と海の深い入江が美しい景観をつり出しているミルフォードサウンドをオーバーナイトクルーズする帆船では、出発に
先立ち「乗客の皆様の健康を確保するため船内およびデッキは全面禁煙となっております」とアナウンスがあった。
日本では「消防法の規定により船内は禁煙です」とするところである。南島有数の観光地、クイーンズタウンの山頂
展望台デッキも禁煙、近くに「PLEASE TAKE CARE OF OUR ENVIRONMENT」と喫煙禁止をゴミとともに環境
問題としてPRしていた。国によりタバコ副流煙の有害性、環境悪化に対する認識の違いと法律による喫煙規制の差は
あまりにも大きい。
