It is necessary to have a seat reservation before you ride the Tranz Scenic train. Since the train will pass
through a railway station if no passenger is booked in that train. All passengers have to show a ticket
obtained at the Internet at the station counter. They will issue a 'boarding pass and receipt' as well as
the document which described the terms and conditions of a train travel.

A train traveler usually thinks a copy of the document will be kept by a passenger. However, a train
conductor told me that he could give the document to a passenger, since this is a ticket itself. Later,
at a desk of sandwich cafe, which is functioned as the conductor's booth, I saw my ticket document,
picked up it, showing it to the assistant conductor, again, asking it to return my document to me.
The answer was 'no', although he promised to ask his officer in charge about my request. Very soon
after that, a senior conductor chased me to the train corridor and shouted out, 'You have to understand
a manor', and stood yelling loudly. "I hold all full power of this train! I can do anything."I felt really angry,
but after a deep breath, I quietly talked to a senior conductor," I require it as a memory of this trip."
Then, he said no more and left.

After a few minutes, a young assistant came to my seat, handed a newly written ticket and explained
that the reason of that for a record that all passengers paid a train fee. However, he did not bring a
document. I told him I needed a document. The assistant returned one more time and gave me a copy
of the train document.

There were two types of Ecomony and TranzCoastal Web Fare. The prices were shown as, $ 154.00
and $ 172.00, respectively. I asked how different these ticket fees by E-mail. However, there was no
explanation about the difference. It said that no seat reservation was possible in advance. All seats are
principally the same. There is no first-class train at the TranzCoastal railway. Two days before
boarding, I asked the equal question of the ticket office in Christchurch station. The office staff said
it is much cheaper to buy a ticket there, and he refunded the tickets obtained on the Internet have
already withdrawn, newly purchased a train ticket. At any circumstance, many people think we can save
money if we buy a ticket further in advance. Nevertheless, it was not so.

This dispute was cased from a backward ticket system of the railway company. If they issue a
reservation ticket at the time of they received a payment, no problems will occur. Despite tourism has
been a pillar, they refuse to hand a copy of the document of a train ride. The attitude of a train
conductor is also lacked the proper appropriateness.

However, the landscape seen from the Tranz Scenic train observation car is really nice, and these
negative aspects will fade out as time goes by.

Tranz Scenic 鉄道に乗車するには必ず予約が必要である。予約客のないない場合、時刻表では停車するとなっていても、
その駅を通過してしまう。乗客は乗車前にチケットオフィスでネット予約したコピーを見せると新たに
「Ticket and Receipt」 なるドキュメントを渡してくれる。そこには乗車日時、運賃の他に旅行約款が記載されている。

当然これは乗客の控えと思っていたら検札の時に全部取り上げられてしまった。車掌に返却を依頼したら
「これが切符だから返せない」とけんもほろろの態度であった。「ドキュメントは自分の控えとして必要である」
と話したがやはりダメである。たまたまカフェでサンドイッチを買うべく赴いたら、そこは車掌の控室でもあった。
乗客のドキュメントなどが多数積んであったので、私のドキュメントを拾い出し、そばにいた助手に再度返して欲しいと
告げた。助手は「車掌に話してみます」と答えてくれた。ところがすぐあとで車掌がデッキまで追いかけてきて
「マナーをわきまえよ」「私はこの列車の全権を握っている」と大声でわめき立てた。結局、スーベニア（記念品）として
それは必要と話したら、やっと静かになった。数分後に若い助手が筆者の座席まで新たに書かれた指定券を持参し
「乗客全員が運賃を支払ったかチェックするために保管している」との説明があつた。しかし、
「ドキュメントの方が必要なのだ」と再び話すと、助手の人は折り返し戻って来て、一旦取り上げられたドキュメントを
筆者に返却してくれた。

当初、切符はネットで買い求めた。そのときのネット予約の画面を表示する。Economy とTranzCoastal Web Fareとの
２つのタイプの切符がある（Economy $154.00,TranzCoastal WebFare $172.00）ことが分かる。キヤンセルの条件は全く
同じである。この違いについて座席のグレードの違いがあるのか予めメールで問い合わせしたところ、どちらも同じ座席との
答えが戻って来た。しかし、どう違うのか説明は全くなかった。割引制度に関しても質問したが答えは無かった。
乗車２日前にクライストチャーチのチケットオフィスに直接出向いて問い正したところ、既にネット上で引き落とされた
切符を払い戻し、新たに購入した方がかなり安いことが分かりチケェットを買い直した。通常であれば１ヶ月以上前に
ネットで買った方が安いはずである。

今回乗車中に起きた押し問答事件も、チケットオフィスで運賃の支払いを受けた時点で座席指定券を発行すれば、何の
問題も起こらない。観光を柱としているにも拘わらず、領収書を兼ねた書類を渡さないなど、こんなおかしなことが
まかり通っている。システムのいい加減さ、対応の不自然さにはあきれ果てた。しかし、Tranz Scenic 鉄道の展望車から
見た景色は本当に素晴らしく、こうした不快で、大きなマイナス面は次第にフェードアウトして行くかもしれない。
