Kalispell is the largest city and commercial center of northwest Montana. The city is also
the gateway to Glacier National Park. Glacier Park International Airport, which is located 13 kms
northeast of Kalispell, and 40 kms southeast of West Glacier, the West Entrance to the Park.
Smoking is permitted, but not inside: This is an advertisement of the electric tobacco.
Montana has been served as Marlboro Country in advertisements.
Wayne McLaren, an actor sponsored by a tobacco company, died at age of 51 from a lung cancer.

Salt Lake City International Airport is located in western Salt Lake City, 6.4 kms far from the central
business district.The airport is the fourth largest and westernmost hub for Delta Air Lines and a major
hub for Delta Connection air lines.The airport ranked 1st in the US for on time departures and arrivals
as of April 2012.

Numerous California communities have adopted local 100% smokefree laws that are stronger than the
state law and close the gaps in indoor coverage, providing workers and the public 100% smokefree
protection in enclosed workplaces and public places. Additionally, many California communities are
expanding smokefree protections to outdoor workplaces and public places where people gather, such
as near building entrances, in service lines, on patio dining areas, and at parks, beaches, community
events, and recreation facilities.

Many smokers put a cigarette on the outside of a hotel, because of no-smoking policy in the public space inside.
Hilton San Francisco Union Square provides 32 smoking guest rooms.
Although the rate of smoking to the total rooms is 0.02 per cent,this is the largest hotel which accommodates
smoking guests among the major hotels in the city.
日本ほどではないが、米国では屋外で喫煙する人々は稀ではない。当然、国外からの旅行者が少なくないが、
サンフランシスコ、ダウンタウンのヒルトンホテルの玄関横には間断なく屋外で喫煙する人たちが目に付いた。
屋外での規制には、出入口、窓、換気口から一定の範囲で喫煙できない空間があるが、それ以外の屋外では
規制はない。早くからレストランでの全面禁煙に踏み切ったカリフォルニア州ではあるが、意外な実態を
見せつけられた形だ。ただ、最近では州法よりもさらに厳しい喫煙規制がいくつかの市で実行されつつある
のは喜ばしい。
タバコ販売は米国中西部、太平洋岸地帯では特に大きな規制はない模様だ。かってマルボロのテレビコ
マーシャルで活躍した Wayne Mclaren の舞台となったたモンタナ州は、マルボロカウントリーとも言われて
いたが、人口20,000人の地方都市に、比較的大きなタバコ・アウトレットがあり、数多くの製品が売られて
いた。土地柄もあろうか、店員は非常にフレンドリーであり、タバコを買いやすい雰囲気が漂っている。
酒も販売し、ギャンブル場も併設しているようである。
ユタ州では2007年にクリーエアアクト（受動喫煙防止法）を立ち上げ、レストランなどとともに公共交通
機関の建物内での喫煙を禁止したはずであるが、ここソルトレイクシテイ空港ではロビー通路との障壁は
あるものの、ドアのない喫煙ルームが今も使用されており、タバコ有害煙が空港内に流れ出ている。
タバコの免税価格は大都市の方が高くなる傾向はあるが、ソルトレイクシテイ空港で、マルボロ3カートン、
90ドル、シスコの空港では100ドルであった。健康障害の面から考えると高い、安いは問題外である。

Yellowstone National Park. No-smoking sign plate was rarely found inside of a restaurant
and/or a bar, in the states of Washington, Montana and Wyoming.
