The Grand Hotel Kaohsiung 高雄圓山大飯店

The Kaohsiung Grand Hotel is located in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It is a sister hotel of the main Grand Hotel Taipei.
高尾随一の中国宮殿風ホテルは澄清湖を見下ろす高台にあり、高尾市街と湖水のすばらしい風景を静かな環境で満喫する
ことができる。台北圓山大飯店の姉妹ホテルである。

高雄市澄清湖近くには正修科研大学がある。校門ゲート出入口には「全面禁煙」標識がすべての学生の目につくよう
に置かれていた。

高雄市の郊外の淡水湖、蓮池潭（蓮花潭）に行くには台湾鐵道（台鐵）が安価で便利だ。高尾駅から電車で左営駅へ、
徒歩５分ほどで湖水に着く。途中には椰子の木立の間に咲くブーゲンビリアの花が美しい。

Lotus Lake　蓮池潭

Lotus Lake is a man-made lake and popular tourist destination on the east side of the Kaohsiung City.
Opened in 1951, it is famous for the lotus plants on the lake and the numerous temples around the lake,
including the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas and the Confucian Temple.

Dragon and Tiger Pagodas　龍虎塔 　

高雄市の水源ともなっている湖畔には有名な七重塔、龍虎塔が建つ。陸地とつづら折りの橋で繋がっており、大きな
龍の口から入り虎の口から出る。龍の入口には賽銭箱がある。入場料の役目をしている。おばさんが座っており、
いくらでもいいと言うが、10元がひとつの目安だ。曲がりくねった橋は真っ直ぐにしか歩けない悪魔が渡れないよう
に、そう架けられたという。二つの７重の塔の上に行くには急な螺旋階段を登れればならないが、最上階は一般には
開放していない。高い気温の亜熱帯の土地では階段を一段一段登るごとに息がきれる。最初の塔の上層階では人は
まばらだったが、隣接する次の塔にまで再度挑戦する人はほとんどいない。

孔廟
蓮池潭北側に建つ台湾最大の孔子廟。中庭には宋代様式の見事な廟が立ち並ぶ。孔子廟の敷地は広大で音一つ
聞こえない静かな環境にある。
Confucius Temples are always simple places provided a very quiet contemplation.

孔子廟の塀に沿って美しい鳳凰木の花が咲き乱れていた。台南やハワイ諸島特有の花である。直ぐそばには
南米原産のフェイジョアと思われる５センチくらいの果実がたくさん見られた。やはりここは亜熱帯の島なのだ。
