The Grand Hotel Taipei
The hotel's roof is currently the world's largest Chinese classical style roof. With its vermilion columns,
the roof makes the hotel a visible show place of Chinese architecture and culture. The hotel itself contains
numerous objects,wall panels, paintings, carvings, and significant restaurants. Dragon motifs are frequently
intertwined throughout the various structures that make up the hotel, earning the hotel the name 'Dragon
Palace'. Lion and plum flower motifs also make a significant presence in the hotel.

圓山大飯店は巨大な中国宮殿式建物。その豪華さと迫力には誰もが圧倒される。剣潭公園に隣接し、台湾神宮の跡地に
建設されており、台北のランドマークになっている。圓山大飯店は日本統治時代に建立されていた台湾神宮の跡地を
利用して建設された。建設に際しては龍の彫刻を多用し、龍宮城とも言われる。龍以外にも石獅、梅花をふんだんに
用い、中国建築の特徴を全面に出した装飾となっている。

開業当初は迎賓館として使用され、ホテルとして使用されてからも世界に冠たる中華民国一のホテルという方針で
日本語はおろか英語サービスすら提供しなかった。しかし、台湾の経済発展によるビジネス需要と国内外の政情の
変化により、現在の公式ホ−ムでは英語および日本語表示をしている。

Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall　中正紀念堂

The National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is a famous monument erected in memory of Chiang Kai-shek,
former President of the Republic of China. It is located in Taipei, Taiwan.　Republic of China. The monument,
surrounded by a park, stands at the east end of the Gate of Great Centrality and Perfect Uprightness. The
structure is framed on the north and south by the National Theater and National Concert Hall.


The National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. The hall rises 70 meters above the ground and is built with white marble wall.
The octagonal roof by blue glazed glass tiles takes the shape of 'human being', which points directly into the sky.

A large bronze stature of Chiang Kai-shek dominates the main hall. Inscriptions on the wall above and behind are
the Chinese characters for Ethics, Democracy and Science.
Under the roof of the main hall is a giant ceiling featuring the national eblem.

中華民国の 初代から第5代にわたって総統職を務めていた蒋介石が1975年に死去、中正紀念堂は 蒋介石の業績を讃え、
1980年に竣工した。中正紀念堂の「中正」は蒋介石の本名である。 2009年1月から台湾民主紀念館儀杖隊の立哨および
交代儀式を再開、1日に8回挙行されている。

敷地の東側に位置する紀念本堂の面積は広大で、西にある中国大陸を臨むように設計されている。本堂の建物の高さが
70mにも及ぶにはという高さ30メートルの正門と他2つの門があり、 その内部はメインフロアと地階に分けられている。
メインフロアの奥には巨大な蒋介石の銅像が設置されており、銅像の上部には蒋介石の基本政治理念であった
「倫理、民主、科学」 という三民主義の本質が、像の土台には蒋介石の遺言がそれぞれ記されている。

National Taiwan University　國立臺灣大學

The predecessor of National Taiwan University was Taihoku (Taipei) Imperial University, founded by the Japanese
in 1928. During Taihoku Imperial University period, every college consisted of "lectures", which were conducted
by a professor and included assistant professors, assistants, instructors and office employees.

After World War II and Taiwan's retrocession to Chinese Sovereignty, the R.O.C. government resumed the admini-
stration of Taihoku University and reorganized and renamed it ''National Taiwan University'' in November 1945.
The number of students reached 29,877 in 2004, including the students from the division of Continuing Education
& Professional development.

臺北帝國大學は1928年日本統治時代に国立大學として設立された。1945年に國立臺灣大學（ National Taiwan University）
として中国語の大學として中華民国政府により接収され再開した。受験競争の厳しい中華民国台湾の中にあっては、
最難関の大學とも言われている。ノーベル賞受賞者も一人輩出している。 学生数が3万人を越える巨大大學である。

Xindian　新店
Xindian, also known by its historical spelling Hsintien and alternative spelling Sindian, is a city located to the south
of Taipei where the apartment complexes of Metro Taipei area meets the northern end of the Central Mountain
Range.

MRT新店線開通後、碧潭(ピータン)への交通は格段に便利になった。そして、東岸の親水公園に花の咲き乱れる遊歩道が設け
られている。吊橋のかかる緑の水面に点々と白いボートが浮かび、川縁に吹く心地よい風の中で湖水の風景を眺めながら時を
過ごす、今や人気のデートスポットとなっている。ライトアップされた吊り橋と高速道路の橋梁、多彩な色彩が夜遅くまで
続き、時の経つことを忘れさせる。

台北捷運新店線 小碧潭（シャオピータン）支線は七張（チーツァン）ー小碧潭間２駅1.6kmを結ぶ路線がある。うち、小碧潭
付近は地上単線区間となっている。当初、同車両基地への引込み線として建設され旅客営業は行っていなかったが、住民の
要望が高く営業運転を行うこととなった。小碧潭駅は新店機廠（車両修繕や保守・点検のための車庫）の上にあり、台北捷運の
駅の中で最も高い位置、４階にある。道路へのアクセスは長いエスカレータかエレベータを使用する。
