Michigan Source: University of Texas Libraries Michigan is a Midwestern state, and is the eighth most populous state in the United States. It has the longest freshwater shoreline of any political subdivision in the world, being bounded by four of the five Great Lakes, plus Sait Clair. Michigan is consisted with twopeninsulas. The Upper Peninsula is separated from the Lower Peninsula, to which the name of Michigan was originally applied, by the Straits of Mackinac, a 8-km wide channelthat joins Lake Huron to Lake　Michigan. The center is affiliated with Wayne State University School of Medicine, that is the largest single-campus medical school in the United States. (L) Renaissance Center Complex interconnects the seven skyscrapers in downtown Detroit. It is owned by the General Motors as its world headquarters. It is located on the international river front to the Canada. (M) Comerica Tower locates not far from the Renaissance Center in Detroit. (R) Downtown Detroit in the old day of 1920 This road-side rest area is located on the Interstate Freeway 94, between Detroit and Port Huron. Toilet here is clean.
